last two weeks

Well its the last two weeks of Canned Laughter. What a buzz its been. The pressure of getting the show on was immense. Ed Curtis has been a dream to work with. I knew from working with him in Panto and Jolson, that he was a great director, but this was far more stressful as we had to re-write so much as we went along. We all just clicked into place. I suppose having worked with the boys so much we know how to play each other. Grant has truly proved himself as an actor and the sympathy his character gets is amazing. The audiences really believe the play, which was our big worry. Andy is on perfect form and some of our heavier scenes are a joy to play every night. The comedy is going really well and the reviews have all been very positive. Most of them are 4 stars. So its Aberdeen this week and Edinburgh (THE BIGGIE) next week. Jane and the kids have waited till Edinburgh to come up. Mainly because Jane is on tour with Adele at the moment and Kate's single is out. David has just about finished two new songs and vids for release in the near future. So the whole family is buzzing. I always get a bit worried when everything is going so well. Its my natural pessimistic side.
OK I'll be in panto writing mode next time I speak. Off for a wee holiday after this. In fact some lovely hols this year. June is Verona to see Adele in the the amphitheatre, June to NY on the relaunch of the Queen Mary 2 and August LA and Las Vagus to see Paul Zerdin in his new show.

Canned laughter.

Well getting very near opening night of Canned Laughter in Kirkcaldy. It's billed as 'World Premier'. I love that. However technically it is. Never been seen anywhere else. And when it's made into a film......Kirkcaldy Adam Smith centre will say we had the world premier......I can but dream.
Anyway all is well in the land of CL. I struggled with my line learning for about a week, as I always do but its getting there. The guys are great and we all feel as if we have something a bit special. But when you are as close to something as I am it's difficult to tell. Ed Curtis is doing a wonderful directing job. He really knows his stuff. He knows what you are thinking before you do....bastard. Difficult to bluff him. In fact impossible. I've been having a quiet life though as most nights I go home and learn my lines. But loving it. Its very exciting. Anyway this time next week is press night so we'll know soon enough what the critics think about it. I know a couple who will not like no matter what we do. No names.
Ok I'm not working tonight I'm going out for dinner and two whiskey and cokes.....no more just two.
bye
